Perinatal Supporters, CREATIVES, Good Humans
The Era of the Gentlepeople Has Begun.
Hello Friends!
My name is Anjanette, Birth & Beyond, NYC is my baby & I’m the sole owner even though there is a '“we” scattered here and there. This is not a doula agency, please doulas I do not have jobs to apply for lol. You’re making me feel bad, I’d love to hire you but…yeah. New York State has a very high cost of living. That’s all I’ll say. And there are skunks in Staten Island. So, that’s that.
Calling Perinatal Supporters, CREATIVES, and Good Humans across this expansive universe.
This collective is for everyone committed to supporting marginalized communities and the Global Majority, as individuals, organizations, and communities. We’re bringing together legends in the game, across industries, disciplines, generations, and all walks of life.
If your work moves people, protects people, creates something meaningful, or leaves this world a little better than you found it, come forward. There is always room for you here. Per management, if you have not stood for the collective, please don’t stand now. Have a seat, many thanks in advance. I’ll share my story, so you realize that we are the same. I invite you to join us so we can hear all about your story too. Many moons ago our stories kept our families going. Our stories were all we had & life felt better that way.
Hindsight is 20/20, but foresight is the vision
I grew up thinking I had nothing to offer this world. I was a child with special needs that just missed her dad because he passed away when I was 18 months old. The busyness of life allowed me to have time to go through my mother’s “No-No” draw. A draw full of adult things a child shouldn’t be looking at. My mom was called the black sheep of the family. I inherited her rebellious soul after she thought she would never have children. My dad had two sons, he was ready for his girl too :)
I became the second black sheep of the family. I was called the darkest in my family. I learned to choose my family, I do not wish to have that closed mindset lingering in my lineage’s DNA. No, ma’am/sir.
I called my mother’s draw the “Yes-Yes” draw. I learned about my dad’s journey as Vietnam Vet at 4 years old. When my mother was busy? I was busier. I joined forces with my mother once she realized I would climb to the top of her bookshelf to find her personal belongings. I had fun learning about my family and wearing my mother’s makeup & heels.
At 23 years old, I worked two blocks away from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Just seeing their website makes my knees buckle. I wanted to attend their programs so bad that I could taste it. Forensics does it for me. Investigate a new crime scene? Not so much. Back then my goal was to earn a PhD in Criminal Justice with a concentration of Forensic Science. But my heart wanted to be a nurse since I was a young girl living in the middle of the AIDS crisis & Crack epidemic. Life was scary as a child. Our world can feel heavy, I just want people to have a safe space to gather in Staten Island (where I live-but in 2027-there’s too much dip on SI’s chip right now) and virtual gatherings will be available for anyone across the world. The collective extends through all of this expansive world. Limiting ourselves to one community/region can limit the knowledge & wisdom we have access to.
as per my last email energy
My website and its original content are fully protected. If anyone decides to copy, reproduce, or repurpose my work without permission, they may find themselves saying hello to a few of my little friends, copyright, trademark, and intellectual property protections.
I protect my work with the same intention I bring to protecting the families and individuals who trust me, thoughtfully, seriously, and without compromise. Transparency and reciprocity live here. My parents mean the world to me, but my mother did limit me in what I could do. We need to recognize our limitations before we move into something new. My mother told me no to cosmetology school. I still went on to do makeup for the people I care for. For my 16th birthday (I think, menopause brain is real) I didn’t want a Sweet 16. I asked to be taken to the movies to see Malcolm X, directed by Spike Lee. Inspired by my favorite book EVER: The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X (Author), Alex Haley (Author), Attallah Shabazz (Foreword Author).
When the movie ended, I couldn’t stop crying. My mom held me for hours, trying to console me. My mother had lived through that history. She met members of the Silent Generation in person, attended Black Panther rallies and community events, and witnessed a movement that I was only beginning to understand. My mother also made it very clear that I was absolutely NOT converting to the Nation of Islam. That made me cry even harder. I didn’t want hugs or my birthday presents anymore.
On the day of my birthday, I loudly announced the following in front of my family, they all looked at my mom like, wth Shirley LOL. Yes, Shirl-a-girl, wth is right. Mommy met her match, ijs. My mom is a Sagittarius but guess who was born on the cusp of scorpio & sag. It’s me lol. My mom was born on 12/9. I was due 12/8 but came a little early. Perhaps to help my mother kick the door clear off its hinges.

As‑salamu alaykum (ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ) friends & family! As Brother Malcolm X said it best, this speaks to how I live my life:
“I’ve had enough of someone else’s propaganda… I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”
-Malcolm X, The Autobiography of Malcolm X
My mother: Anjanette Rebecca Dash Silas!!!! that’s ENOUGH.
My mom didn’t say all that when she was drooling over Denzel Washington though. I’m not one to gossip so you didn’t hear that from me.

Children, parents, grandparents, partners, friends and neighbors are welcome. My marginalized people better get in here! Bring your children and your children’s children.
The Beyond is a space for good people to come together, outside of the containers we were taught to live within. If you would like to join us or bring your knowledge, services or small business into the collective, complete the interest form below. I’ll be in touch before the year closes and the new year begins.
I’ve waited my entire life for a space where we don’t have to separate the pieces of ourselves to belong. Welcome to The Beyond.
Intentional inquiries, please. Consistency is an important part of building community, so we ask that you join us with the time and intention to grow, learn and share together.
Please bring my Gen Z gang-gang!! They’re fresh as all hell & a little too much like me. I would love to see them working in the community as entrepreneurs, let’s retire them by 32 years old on multi-millionaire status. My 22-yr old son one upped me, he said he’s a multi-trillionaire.
Y’all have competition & a mentor that I haven’t spoken to about this yet so please keep this between us. He spends most of his time tearing down the gaming world, that smoke I do not want! He managed to bypass college & the SATs. He buys dinners & he hugs me when I’m sad. He notices when I cut my hair or wear a new perfume. Ladies, please stand down. He is taken & his person is his identical twin. Really gross stuff I don’t want to talk about.
Gen X, get in here!! Let’s get you retired ASAP, who in the helly agreed to working until 65 or older? The Boomers are out here like the energizer bunny. Let’s not and say we did.
Let’s party like it’s 1999. The rest of the world can figure it out on their own.
