Wild & Free, Staten Island Plant Community

Where every sprout, bloom & soul is welcome to be wild & free

Gardening has always been my therapy. In 2026, I’ll be growing a plant community in Staten Island!

Let’s be real, our plant pickings are slim. The big box stores don’t carry the plants people love most & (forgive me) their plants tend to be hot garbage. I want to change that by expanding access to the kind of well loved, hard to find plants that make our homes come alive.

I’m not an expert by any means. Growing indoor plants became a hobby when I stepped into birthwork. For every birth I attended, I bought a new plant. Over time, my home became the forest off Forest Avenue. I’ve learned a lot through trial & error. I want to keep learning alongside others who get the joy of it.

Whether you’re brand new to gardening or a seasoned grower, there’s space here for you. In 2026, I’ll be hosting small, hands-on gardening meetups where we can get our hands dirty & connect over our shared love of plants.

I’m gathering my people now so we can start strong during the colder seasons when outdoor plants say their final goodbye. If you’d like to join in, fill out an interest form to stay in the loop. No experience needed, just a curiosity & love for all things wild & free.

Upcoming meetups will include:

  • Maintaining indoor & outdoor plants

  • Perennial & annual plant care

  • Plant species that are not readily available within our community (tropical aroid plants like monsteras, philodendrons, anthuriums, alocasias, variegated plant babies & carnivorous plants)

  • Tissue culture acclimation & growth

  • Pest & Disease Management

  • Establishing fertilizer regimens

  • pH balancing for optimal plant growth

  • Hydroponics

  • Substrates & amendments

  • Seedlings, cuttings & propagations

  • Plant care from seed to harvest

  • Trading, purging, buying & selling plant babies

  • Community veggie & herb sharing

  • Indoor plant styling & outdoor landscaping

  • Volunteer opportunities in our community

Everyone that attends our first meet-up will go home with a new plant <3

Individuals & families are welcome to join. Babies & children are encouraged to get their hands dirty :) Introvert-friendly space!
